HELP I need somebody…

When Milan and I were supporting people in a care setting, we knew there was a problem that we couldn’t easily resolve. Not with the people we supported, they were great, but with those who should have known better and with those who knew nothing about the illness. The problem was that we were supporting drunks. They knew that and we didn’t because we never saw them that way. We only saw people with a problem and we have not changed.
So what can we do? Since we started ARBD Awareness every day we have heard of more stories of people seeking help and information about this illness. There is a need for training the professionals about the behaviour of people who have WKS. There is a need to provide information to friends and family so they know where to get help and support. We are trying to provide this as quickly as we can. We are trying to provide the information to give relief to those who do not know where to turn and to be able to answer their questions, where ever they are. Please help us to spread the word that people with WKS are not drunks; they are vulnerable people in need of support. To friends and family we would say, hang on in there and if you need to talk we are only a phone call away.
