For over ten years we have supported people who have had their lives changed by an illness known as Wernicke’s Korsakoff’s syndrome. We can only make a guess at the worry and heartache and grief it has brought to their families. We have despaired at the poor decisions that have been made by people who are supposed to have helped. We know it is not their fault that they do not understand the condition, for it is an illness that takes time to appreciate and in this fast-paced world who has time to understand the motives of an alcoholic. Who would want to spend time with a person who has sought their own destruction, for there are plenty of people in the world who face trials and tribulations not of their own making who deserve support more? That’s what we are told and we don’t argue with that, it just happens that we have worked with a group of people who we know need help and support. And it bugs us, so on Wednesday 12^th July 2017 we took our first step to doing something about it. We launched the ‘Spread The Word’ campaign.
